Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Linefinder collects, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We keep data collection to the minimum needed to run the service.
Who we are
Linefinder is a tool for exploring, drawing, and storing ski and mountain routes. For any question about this policy or your data, contact us at privacy@linefinder.dev.
Information we collect
Account information
When you create an account we store your email address and display name. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email and name from Google to create or match your account. If you register with a password, we store only a secure hash of that password — never the password itself.
Content you create
Routes, waypoints, comments, photos, and favorites you add are stored so the service can display them back to you and, where you choose to publish, to other users.
Usage analytics
In production we use Vercel Analytics to understand aggregate usage such as page views and performance. This analytics is designed to be privacy-friendly: it does not set tracking cookies, does not build a profile of you across sites, and does not collect personally identifying information.
Cookies and similar technologies
Linefinder uses only the cookies that are strictly necessary to provide the service you request:
- Authentication cookies keep you signed in after you log in. They are set only once you choose to sign in.
- Security cookies protect sign-in against cross-site request forgery.
We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies. Because our analytics is cookieless and the remaining cookies are essential to deliver a service you actively request, we do not show a cookie-consent banner. If this ever changes, we will ask for your consent before setting any non-essential cookies.
How we use your information
- To create and secure your account and keep you signed in.
- To store and display the routes and content you create.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the service.
- To understand aggregate, anonymized usage so we can make the product better.
How we share information
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with service providers that help us run Linefinder — for example our hosting and analytics provider — and only to the extent they need it to provide their service. Content you choose to publish is visible to other users.
Data retention
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal account data and associated content, except where we must keep certain records to comply with the law.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@linefinder.dev.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, for significant changes, provide a more prominent notice.
